HYBRID LEARNING

How Your Week Is Structured

Avid Dental Academy combines self-paced online coursework with scheduled Saturday Clinical Laboratory Training to give students a balanced learning experience. Each week is designed to help you build foundational knowledge online before applying what you’ve learned through supervised clinical training.

Students complete self-directed online coursework each week at their own pace before attending Saturday Clinical Laboratory Training. Each lesson follows the curriculum and prepares students for the clinical skills they’ll practice during their scheduled laboratory session.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Class Schedule FAQs

Before classes begin, it’s helpful to understand how the Dental Assistant Program is structured and what to expect throughout your training. Here are answers to some of the questions prospective students ask most often.

Can I complete my online coursework on my own schedule?

Yes. We know many students are balancing work, family, and other responsibilities while completing the program. That’s why the online coursework is self-directed and self-paced, giving you the flexibility to complete each week’s lessons before your scheduled Saturday Clinical Laboratory Training.

Are Saturday laboratory sessions required?

Yes. While much of your coursework is completed online, Saturday Clinical Laboratory Training is where you’ll put what you’ve learned into practice. These sessions are a required part of the Dental Assistant Program and play an important role in developing your clinical skills.

What happens if I miss a class?

We understand that unexpected situations can happen. If you’re unable to attend a scheduled class, let us know as soon as possible so we can discuss your situation. Certain absences, such as illness, family emergencies, court appearances, military service, or other approved circumstances, may be considered excused with appropriate documentation.

Students are responsible for completing all required instructional hours and assignments. When an absence occurs, opportunities to complete make-up work depend on the type of instruction missed and instructional availability. Online coursework may be reassigned when appropriate, but Clinical Laboratory Training and externship experiences are scheduled and may not always be able to be made up.

Absences that don’t meet the requirements for an excused absence may be considered unexcused. Repeated unexcused absences or failure to complete the required instructional hours may result in academic warning, probation, or withdrawal from the program in accordance with Avid Dental Academy’s policies.

What happens if severe weather affects the class schedule?

Arkansas weather can be unpredictable, and the safety of our students and staff always comes first. If severe weather or another emergency affects the schedule, we’ll communicate any changes as quickly as possible.

If instructional time is affected, we’ll schedule make-up sessions to help students complete the required clock hours.

When will I receive my complete class and externship schedule?

Before your program begins, you’ll receive your complete schedule, including your Clinical Laboratory Training and supervised externship. This gives you time to plan for the weeks ahead before classes begin.
